Is your business as prepared as you should be in the event of a disaster? Maybe you have taken steps to insure that you won’t lose everything if something bad like a fire comes along and destroys your office. Perhaps you have taken the time to back up your computer files and were smart enough to store them off site. That is an excellent way to protect your business. But there is another thing you will want to do if you have not done so already.
What about all of your paper files. You probably have file cabinets full of records and documents. The reason you keep files in the first place is because you need them or you could need them in the future. What a liability they are!
This is where a document imaging service can help you. They can come in and quickly scan all of your files. Now that your files are digitized they too can be stored off site. In fact, these companies typically offer an off site storage solution for you as well. They can store your digital documents in a way where you can quickly and easily access them in a secure way from anywhere in the word if there is internet access.

Though being a parent can be rewarding most of the time, sometimes it can be really frustrating. This is especially true when you have little children (under the age of 3) who don’t necessarily understand that they are making your life difficult when they really are.
The latest escapade that has made me reconsider my desire to be a parent just happened yesterday afternoon. You see, we have been potty training our two year old, Courtney, and for the most part it has been going alright. Sure, there have been more accidents than successes, but I think she is really getting the hand of things.
Yesterday was an especially good day and she only needed one diaper by mid-afternoon. I was feeling really proud of her until I noticed that the house was really quiet.
Too quiet.
As it turns out, she was playing in the bathroom and just as I made it to the bathroom door to see what she was doing, she dropped my hearing aid in the toilet. I made a mad dash to save it, but it was too late – it was flushed down the toilet.
I suppose this will make a good wedding story someday, but in the meantime, I am just frustrated. I guess on the bright side I won’t be able to hear her whine anymore, right?

Boat accessories is big business. In fact, it is huge business. With the number of boats being manufactured going up every year for the past several, it is no wonder that the sales of after market parts and accessories has increased dramatically over the past decade or so.
One of the manufacturers perennially at the top of the sales lists is Mercury Marine, the maker of Mercruiser parts. A company that has been around since just after the turn of the 20th century, Mercury had created a solid business of providing boat owners with quality well priced parts and accessories.
If you have the choice between genuine parts and after market knock offs, you’ll always want to choose the best parts your money can buy. In order to maintain the integrity and sailing shape of your vessel, don’t even consider saving a few bucks by buying cheap, often imitation parts.
When you have to depend on your boat to weather the storm, and get back to your home port, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that you put in top quality parts and accessories when you had the chance. There could be no bigger nightmare on the seas than to discover that a cheap part is what stranded you out in there, waiting for the Coast Guard to come and rescue you.

Before You Close Down Your Business
Filed Under Business | Leave a Comment

If you are struggling to keep your business alive then you might be thinking about closing your doors. That could be the right thing to do. However, it might not be. Before you close down your business, ask yourself what the reason is that you’re shutting down. Then see if there’s another option that makes more sense.
A majority of businesses that close do so because they can’t afford to stay in business. If that’s your reason, see if there’s anything that you can do to relieve your financial burden. Have you looked at business debt reduction or corporate debt negotiation? Is there a way to reduce your monthly expenses? Ask yourself these things before you close doors.
Another reason that businesses close down is because the owner is burned out. If that’s your reason, have you reviewed other options? Have you taken a vacation lately to refresh? Have you thought about hiring more staff so you can work fewer hours?
Closing doors should be a last option. Unfortunately, it’s the option that a lot of business owners leap to when they are feeling overwhelmed by debt or stress. Pausing to think about the options available could allow you to keep your business and even to improve upon it.
