San Diego seems to be the mecca for many people in the dry, southwestern region of the U.S. And why not? The ocean, the naval base, the scenery, the mission, Sea World, and most of all the weather are all major drawing points for people who are landlocked amongst desert scenery.
But it’s also a haven for other Californians. I remember that when my two sons were too small to really get into a full day at Disneyland, (not to mention too small to handle a long car drive or plane ride,) we could drive an hour and a half down and stay overnight in one of many San Diego hotels. Then we could spend one day at Sea World and the other at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Both of these places are a lot more the right speed for very small children. And when they get older, they no longer are as interested in these.
We also were fortunate in that our hotel room had a kitchenette, so we could escape there and give the boys snacks, and also feed either breakfast or dinner there in a calm atmosphere. And one great thing I remember about California hotels versus Colorado hotels: the pool is always open!

What Is Scrap Gold?
Filed Under Education | Leave a Comment
When people think of selling scrap gold, the first thing that comes to mind is jewelry. And jewelry is an excellent example of something that might be scrap gold. Maybe it is a piece of jewelry that has long gone out of style. Maybe it is a necklace that you can’t untangle. If it has gold in it, you can sell this jewelry as scrap gold. But if you want to sell scrap gold, jewelry is not the only example. There are some things that you might not think of as being scrap gold that actually are.
Scrap gold can be anything that has gold in it, but doesn’t have much retail value. Here is one I bet you didn’t think of: How about old gold fillings and teeth? When they replace your old gold fillings with the new white fillings, you can sell your old fillings as scrap gold!
Or maybe you have some gold bullion. There is certainly no sentimental value about gold bullion! Gold bullion is not art. And there are many more examples of scrap gold which you may have that you did not think of. There is gold wire, gold solder, gold mesh, gold flake, and so on. And the condition of this scrap gold really doesn’t matter because it is just going to get melted down once you sell the gold.

How to Have a Fiji Adventure
Filed Under Travel | Leave a Comment
A lot of travelers visit Fiji each year. Most of them love it. However, only a handful of them actually feel like they had a real Fiji adventure.
Here’s how to have a true adventure when you visit Fiji:
- Do very little research before you go. It’s good to know the basics (like where the best hotels are) but try to leave a lot of things open to surprise when you visit Fiji. It’s a place filled with pleasant surprises.
- Go with a group of adventurous people. You are more likely to be adventurous yourself if you’ve got a group of others who support you in doing this. Look to travel clubs to find people to go to Fiji with.
- Leave your books at home. So many people take reading with them on beach vacations. Skip that with Fiji and explore the island instead. You can read books when you get home.
- Make sure you Dive Fiji. This is one of the most popular adventure activities in the area. If you miss out on it then you’re going to regret it.
- Commit to coming home with 5 amazing memories. The experience of finding them will lead you to a number of terrific adventures in Fiji.
Fiji is a beautiful and safe destination which makes it ideal for adventuring.

When I set up my professional website for the first time, I had no idea how important it was to get a good web hosting provider — or how much providers could vary in the quality and service they provided.
So when I first set up my website, I was using a “free” hosting provider. I put free in quotes because they actually upsold you on virtually everything they could. Domain name registration cost $25 a year instead of $10 or less like most places. Also the maximum storage and bandwidth on the free accounts were minimal, and to purchase more was ridiculously expensive.
On top of it all, their email servers were blacklisted as spammers while I was with them, so my email was all getting sent to my clients’ junk mail folders, or even rejected outright. Not a good thing when you own a business and said business is dependent on your communication getting through.
After a year and some change, I decided it was time to transfer to a different (read: better) hosting company. I easily found one where I had a fancy hosting package that cost less than just the extra storage and bandwidth I was buying from the other provider. And if I want to upgrade to anything, such as dedicated hosting or another business hosting option, the pricing is still very reasonable.
This story ought to demonstrate how important it is to find a good web hosting provider from the beginning. Don’t settle for less, or sign up with a questionable company just because the services are “free.” Believe me, you’ll pay in other ways, whether that is overpriced peripheral services or crappy quality that threatens the success of your business.
