It seems that my college diploma frames that are hanging on the wall in my office are the culprit when it comes to daydreaming about my days in college.  Looking at those papers on the wall really gets me thinking about my life journey and how I ended up sitting here in the first place.

I suppose the biggest disappointment about the whole experience is that I didn’t realize how important those days were going to be in shaping me into the person I am today.  If I had known, I might have paid more attention to the world around me, made better friends, and gotten more out of the experience.

But those days are gone, and even though I could go back to college, I would never have the same experience again.  That makes me sad since I had so much fun there, and all that I am left with is a graduation picture frame with a younger me staring at me with his whole life ahead of him.

So we are going on a trip.

Alright, it isn’t just a trip, it will be a getaway for us to a ski resort.  My wife has always wanted to ski at Banff in Canada, so I thought I would take her there.  She has made a number of sacrifices during our marriage, especially when it came to our kids, so I thought it was her turn to be first for a change.

But before we go, we need to pack.  My wife is a bit of a list person (whereas I hate them), and she includes everything on there including our hearing aid batteries.  Even though I don’t care for the lists, as long as she organizes the packing, we rarely forget anything.

Really though, I am not even really thinking about the packing, but instead I can’t wait to have some time alone with my wife.  It will be nice to reconnect with the woman that I fell in love with so many years ago.
