Jack Bauer inquired:

Why have John McCain, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, and Rudy Giuliani refused to participate in the “Values Voter” debate? Since they are running for the Republican nomination, don’t they need the votes of the religious conservatives? I understand why every single Democrat has refused but I’m not positive why the Republicans have.

    Because Republicans have no values?

Nobody in public office has any values. If they did do you think we would be in the mess we are in.

How come all of the top Democrat candidates have refused to participate in a behavior debate? The answer, of course, is that they would alienate their base.

All the frontrunners have extremely poor records on social issues. Rudy Giuliani would sweat the whole time. Ron Paul will excel.

Their are hundreds if not thousands of Christian faiths who all believe differently. Getting into specifics about religious beliefs would not be a smart move. By appealing to some they’d be opposing others and vise versa. It makes sense that only the candidates who had nothing to lose and possibly something to gain would attend such a debate.
